Reformat the Planet Artikel entfernt
Vor einigen Minuten erhielt ich eine Nachricht via Mail in dem ich von einem Benutzer gewarnt wurde, das 2 Player Productions ihn bezüglich seines Uploads von Reformat The Planet kontaktiert hätten mit der Bitte um Entfernung des Uploads sowie Drohung mit rechtlichen Schritten falls er nicht umgehend Folge leisten würde.
Man mag nun von einem solchen Upload halten was man möchte – ich persönlich habe meinen Standpunkt diesbezüglich im 2 Player Productions Forum hinterlassen – und für den Fall, das mein Post gelöscht wird, möchte ich ihn an dieser Stelle für die Nachwelt aufbewahren:
I just got a mail from a reader of my blog warning me that you have contacted him via youtube regarding his upload of the “Reformat the Planet” documentary (no clue if this has been uploaded as whole or just partially) as I have embedded 2 parts of Reformat the Planet on my blog from pitchfork.tv.
I’m pretty confused that someone who is as open minded as you regarding modern pop culture seams to be so single minded when it comes to potential(!) lost of money at once.
Let me just ask you a simple question but please don’t start to answer before you have read what I have to say:
Do you really, honestly, think, that someone who would have bought your documentary wouldn’t do so after watching it on youtube?
This is an argumentation I would expect from one of the major labels but not form an indie label like yours – but maybe you’ll prove me wrong and the brain washing worked.
I for myself never met anyone who would have bought a song or a video who doesn’t want to buy it after watching/listening to it at such a low quality version as youtube offers but just the other way round.
Don’t get me wrong – I absolutely think that someone who regulary uses/listens to/watch a product should spend money for it to support the product – no matter what it is.
But I don’t think that someone who was interrested in your documentary in the first place now prefers the youtube version over the DVD version with a lot better video & especially audio quality.
As far as I know he deleted his uploads and I for myself will also unpublish all my articles mentioning your documentary except a link to this thread and a copy of this post on my blog as I don’t feel like supporting someone who prefers to threaten people doing free advertising in a low quality version instead of seeing their option to get more people to know the documentary and therefore attract potential customers.

Kommentar by Zettt Hab’s mir mal durchgelesen. Leider ist das nicht recht und ich kann da nicht mitargumentieren. Nur weil ein paar Hippies MUSIK veroeffentlichen. Kostenlos, free und Open Source. Hat ein Film DARUEBER rein gar nichts mit der Sache zu tun. Da verstossen die Veroeffentlicher eindeutig gegen geltendes Recht. Wenn der Hersteller der Doku sein Werk nicht unter eine offene Lizenz stellt, wie etwa Creative Commons, dann hat er eben auch das Recht zu sagen wann, wo, wie sein Werk oeffentlich gestellt wird. Geheule hin oder her.
Kommentar by Chris\\Das3Zehn Es geht mir mitnichten darum ihm vorschreiben zu wollen, wie er sein Material zu veröffentlichen hat – ich finde es ehrlich gesagt aber sehr traurig das mittlerweile selbst Indie Labels mit dem “Dann kauft’s ja keiner” Argument zu kommen scheinen.
